Speech and Language Therapist
Alison is a Senior Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist and a part of the Senior Management Team of London Children’s Practice. She qualified with a Master of Science in Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She has worked with a paediatric population since qualifying, and has experience working in both the NHS and in private practice. Alison provides both assessment and therapy for children in the clinic setting, in their homes, in nurseries and in schools.
Alison has special interest in complex needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder, and has worked extensively with children in this population. She also has experience working with children with other developmental delays and disabilities, as well as a range of speech and language needs, including Speech Delay/Disorder, Language Delay/Disorder, Verbal Dyspraxia, and Selective Mutism.
Alison is trained in Signalong and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and has also completed formal training courses in Challenging Behaviour Management, SCERTS, Autism in School-Age Children, Michael Palin School Age Stammering and Working with Selective Mutism, amongst others.
Alison is involved in the Autism Diagnostic Clinic at the practice, and is trained in administering the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Scale). The ADOS provides accurate assessment and diagnosis of autism and pervasive development disorder across ages, developmental levels and language skills.
