Orla qualified with an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of East Anglia in 2014. Since qualifying Orla has worked extensively with children and adults with Autism and Asperger’s as part of Paediatric Autism Services within Ireland across mainstream and special education settings as well as providing intervention in a clinic and community setting. During this time Orla was also a team lead of respite services, helping children and teenagers build their independence skills within their local communities.
Orla is passionate about working with children and has spent 2 summers working in the United States as part of a special needs summer camp as a counsellor. The camp catered for children and adults of various needs and abilities.
Orla has experience working with a range of complex needs and she is also trained in the administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observations Scale (ADOS-2), with up to 2 years of experience in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism. She continues this work within London Children’s Practice.
In 2015, Orla completed Module 1 of the Sensory Integration Course and has provided training for parents, teachers and carers of children with sensory processing disorder and autism along with over 3 years of providing therapeutic intervention for children experiencing difficulties in this area.
Outside of work, Orla is passionate about travelling, food, music and animals. She also enjoys boxing classes and exploring the sights of London.
