Vera qualified as an Occupational Therapist from the College of Health and Sciences in Lisbon. As a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, Vera has worked in a variety of settings, such as, special schools and community. She works both within the London Children’s Practice Clinic and at NHS in a Children’s Therapy Department.
Vera has a solid academic background and eight years of wide experience working in Paediatrics. This experience led her to develop skills within a variety of clinical areas including, Autism Spectrum Disorder, neurological conditions e.g. Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Developmental delays and Sensory Processing difficulties. As well as assessing and treating children, Vera also works with schools, by providing training to education staff and parents.
Vera completed the Module 1 Sensory Integration Course by the Sensory Network and the Teaching and Learning of Handwriting course by the National Handwriting Association. She is registered with the Health Professions Council and a member of the College of Occupational Therapists and the Children and Young People and Families Specialist section.
Vera speaks Portuguese.
Outside of work Vera enjoys going to the cinema and theatre. Vera has a passion for animals and in the past has volunteered in Pet Therapy projects with children with Learning Disabilities.
