Christine CañoSchools Manager and Speech and Language Therapist

    Christine is a Speech and Language Therapist and Schools Manager at LCP. Christine has a BSc (Hons) in Human Communication (Speech and Language Science), a Postgraduate and an MSc in Speech and Language Therapy, all from City University London. Since qualifying, she has worked as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist with the London Children’s Practice.

    Christine has experience working with paediatrics in Early Years and Mainstream Primary and Secondary School settings. These settings gave her the opportunity to work with children who have: Special Educational Needs, Speech Sound Delay, Language Delay and Disorders, Hearing Impairment, Auditory Memory and Processing Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Social Communication Difficulties, Selective Mutism and Cleft Palate. During her Postgraduate degree, she also gained experience working with adults in a neurorehabilitation ward. Christine is particularly passionate about working with children who have Speech Sound Delay and Language Disorders, however she carries out assessment and intervention in a variety of clinical settings for clients of all age ranges. Christine has also completed training in SCERTS, The Lidcombe Program of Early Stuttering Intervention, Alex Kelly Assessing and Teaching Social Skills, and in Communication Difficulties in Children with Cleft and other Complex Craniofacial Conditions. Christine specialises in Developmental Language Disorder and working with the adolescent population.

    Christine also provides training in clinic to carers, teaching assistants, learning support assistants etc called ‘Supporting Children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs Training’. As part of working with schools, Christine carries out INSET day training. She has also attended a Cleft and Craniofacial Course delivered by professionals from the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

    Christine is a registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Health and Care Professions Council.

    Christine speaks Tagalog (Filipino).

    Outside of work Christine plays the violin, piano, hosting and presenting events and enjoys singing and socialising. Christine also has a passion for fashion and beauty, travelling, taking pictures and technology.
